Tiny Finery - Canada
Tiny Finery is a small boutique shop located in Vancouver’s trendy East Side, one of the cultural hubs of the city. Peeking inside the quaint storefront, it’s easy to get distracted by all the gorgeous local crafts on display – a point of pride for the owner, Stephanie Menard.
“Tiny Finery is a space where people gather to appreciate small and beautiful local handmade craft, and it’s a place to learn. The word ‘finery’ is a word that means where fine things are kept, but it’s also a place where fine things are made, and Tiny Finery is both.”
After a decade of selling her handmade jewelry at markets and fairs, Stephanie and her husband decided it was time to think about starting a family. Since then, she’s been hard at work growing her business by launching a line of Tiny Finery candles and bath salts, adding more workshop classes, and, most recently, bringing her shop online with DG1.
“I’d like to translate some of what is happening in the shop to happen online. So, growing our little online shop to be a bigger part of the business, and focusing more on the events that we like to hold at the shop, so that the in-person experience is more of an experience.”
While she admits that creating her own business has been a challenge, the connections she’s made and the relationships she’s developed with her customers have helped her focus on creating custom jewelry for clients.
“Having a place that people can come to has opened up a whole new facet of my business, which is great.”
Despite all the challenges, she’s excited by the possibilities of being able to use DG1 to promote to clients and consolidate her digital presence onto one platform.
She’s currently using the website management system for her new site, the booking feature for her classes, and the shop for her online orders, and is excited about what the platform can do for her going forward. “We are looking forward to the app because it’s such a novelty. We’re going to put out a newsletter, so we’ll be using that soon.”
Apart from all the cost-saving features and powerful promotional tools, the best part of DG1 for her has been the personalized help and support she got from the team.
“DG1 has been above and beyond attentive and helpful, and really able to teach me how to make things work in a totally non-condescending way. If I have a question, you have an answer for me as soon as I ask the question. Plus, the fact that you have a Vancouver office, so that you’re very reachable. That’s the best part, so far.”
With all the success she’s been having, it’s easy for her to recommend DG1 to other businesses like hers.
“With your focus on small independent businesses, I feel like you’re putting together a group of really great unique, small experiences. And I think anybody who’s got that going for them would be a good part of the team – somebody who’s doing something small and something creative, that’s who I would recommend DG1 to.”
